Methodology
SchemesForMe is an independent directory of 4,704 Indian government schemes. This page explains where our data comes from, how we organise it, and, importantly, what we do and do not show.
Where the data comes from
Our scheme information is compiled from public data on the official myScheme portal (myscheme.gov.in and its public API at api.myscheme.gov.in), a Government of India platform that aggregates central and state schemes. We are not affiliated with myScheme or any ministry. The data reflects a snapshot taken on 15 July 2026 and is refreshed periodically.
How we organise schemes
We take each scheme and index it so it is easy to find by your own situation. Every scheme is grouped by:
- Category, such as education, health, agriculture or social welfare, 15 in all.
- State or union territory for state schemes, across 36 states and UTs, with central schemes marked as applying everywhere.
- Ministry or department that runs the scheme, 52 in all.
- Who it is for, such as students, women, farmers, senior citizens or persons with disability, derived from the scheme's own tags.
The eligibility finder matches your choices, state, category, level and who you are, against this index, entirely in your browser. It is a way to shortlist schemes to explore, not a decision on your eligibility.
What we show, and what lives on the official portal
For each scheme we show a plain summary, the level (central or state), the ministry, who it is for, the applicable states and the tags from the source record. That is it.
We deliberately do not reproduce benefit amounts, detailed eligibility conditions, or the document checklist. Those are authoritative only on the official myScheme page, they change over time, and getting them slightly wrong could cost someone a genuine benefit. So every scheme links straight to its official page, and we ask you to read the full eligibility and apply there. We never invent numbers, rules or documents.
Close dates and status
Where the source lists a close date we show it, and if that date has passed we note the scheme may no longer be accepting applications. Beyond that we do not claim a scheme is open or closed. The official portal is the source of truth for current status.
